A Golden King's Crown with Jewels

A crown of gold and jewels fit for a king! In medieval times, gold was often seen as beneficial for the health, in the belief that something so rare and beautiful could not be anything but healthy. Medieval kings were crowned under the signs of sacred oil and a golden crown, the latter symbolizing the eternal shining light of heaven and thus a Christian king's divinely inspired authority. Although crowns are still used today by European royalty for special gala events, smaller versions can be attached to the veil worn by the today's bride as part of the wedding regalia.
