You took a gamble and found love. Why not celebrate your marriage with a Las Vegas theme wedding? Las Vegas and weddings are nearly synonymous and Las Vegas theme weddings are the next best thing to being there.
If you have decided to tie the knot in Vegas and want to have a reception at home among family and friends, or you want to create a Vegas experience without traveling to Sin City, Las Vegas theme weddings are for you!
Colors are a great place to start planning Las Vegas theme weddings. Whether the ceremony takes place in a church or another venue, plan your wedding colors around Las Vegas. Red, white and black are obvious choices for Las Vegas and weddings, and work very well. The bride would wear a traditional white gown, flowers would be red rose bouquets, and the groom and groomsmen would wear traditional black tuxedos with red handkerchiefs and cummerbunds. Getting more creative, handkerchiefs, cummerbunds and bride accessories, such as the garter and hair decorations, may be in a fabric with a playing card design.
After the ceremony, the party begins in true Las Vegas style. You may decide to rent a hotel conference room and create your own casino for the reception. Set up blackjack tables and have friends or family members with a little card experience act as blackjack dealers. Or, rent professional dealers. Party stores will be able to help you with the details of the games; providing chips, table tops and cards.
Upon entering the "casino," guests should be given party favor bags containing play money, personalized chips, drink tickets, personalized, heart-shaped playing cards, a Las Vegas key chain and any other Las Vegas themed favors. Cocktail waitresses should circle around the crowd, serving drinks and appetizers. Las Vegas and weddings can both inspire your creativity when planning your favors.
Instead of dinner being served individually, go for a Vegas-style buffet meal. You still may decide to use a seating chart and plan guest seating for dinner. Instead of plain place cards, write guests' names on the back of Las Vegas Postcards, and turn them guest-name-forward. When guests turn them around they will be treated to a view of Las Vegas. You also may place a lottery ticket behind each place card as a surprise for each guest. The beauty of Las Vegas theme weddings is that they are never boring!
Bouquets of red and white roses in glass vases, with a black ribbon tied around each vase, are the perfect centerpiece for dinner tables. Surround them with cut-outs of card suits, or confetti in the shape of card suits.
Las Vegas and weddings love entertainment! Hire a live band or DJ to play classics by such performers as Elvis, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. You may even have impersonators performing as such artists. Cake toppers may take the shape of a pair of dice, Elvis or card-suit figures. At the end of the evening, as your guests are leaving, hand them a set of four dice: made out of chocolate truffles; wrapped in colored cellophane and tied with a ribbon.
Now that Las Vegas is a world-famous city, imploring its guests to indulge in every imaginable style of fun, it's safe to say that your Las Vegas theme wedding will be a night to remember!
