Daisy Wedding Theme

Daisy wedding flowers add a beautiful garden wedding feel to your special day.

People have been enjoying daisies, in one form or another, for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptian ceramics, and even a board game, have been found decorated with these fresh, endearing flowers. The daisy and wedding ceremony have come to symbolize gentle innocence and loving loyalty, making them an appropriate choice for a daisy themed wedding.

When we think of daisies, we most often think of Shastas, with their white petals and yellow centers. Shasta daisies are one of the most popular varieties and have the advantage of blending beautifully with any decor for your daisy themed wedding. A daisy and wedding decoration both begin with the soft color palatte and explode into creative beauty.

In full bloom, potted daisies, with their lacy greenery, can be gorgeous. Cut daisies will give you a fuller look. And faux daisies are available and perfect in any season. Terra cotta pots for your daisy themed wedding would provide a nice color contrast while preserving the plants' clean, simple look. You could display these on a deep windowsill or in painted windowboxes, or group them in rows on a stepped-style plant stand. Daisies look lovely on a church altar, or placed in front of an altar rail.

Wicker baskets and galvanized watering cans filled with cut or faux daisies also make wonderful displays. Or group some pots in a wooden garden cart tied with ribbons. You could have your guests pile gifts in a matching cart.

In keeping with the fresh ambiance, your daisy and wedding reception decorations might use pastel table coverings. Garnished with cut flowers and other decorations, these will look far from plain. For a cute daisy centerpiece, arrange white or daisy-patterned teacups and saucers on a pretty woven mat strewn with daisies. Fill the cups with water and place daisy-shaped floating candles in the cups.

During the spring and summer, you can often find placemats and tablewear imprinted with daisies for your daisy themed wedding. If the timing of your wedding makes this possible, scout around for these and stock up.

Why not hang a daisy and wedding quilt on the wall for a homespun touch? Or search the web for string lights made like daisies and pin them up in a daisy shape. If there'll be a couch or loveseat in the room, toss a daisy afghan or daisy-printed throw over it.

As your guests enter, have someone hand each one a daisy corsage or boutonniere to add to your daisy themed wedding. Other favors could include daisy soaps, tea lights, or bookmarks. The soaps or tea lights could be wrapped in daisy-print fabric and tied with daisy-chain lace.

If you'd like your daisy themed wedding to be reflected in more of the smaller details, you can find lots of beautiful daisy items online, such as invitations, guestbooks, placecards, etc.

For daisy and wedding attire to be combined, consider the following options.
  • For a fresh-as-a-daisy wedding gown, remove the stems from silk daisies and sew the blossoms on the dress.
  • Make a matching headpiece, and attach a daisy to each of your shoe tops.
  • Carry a daisy bouquet.
  • The groom could be attired in a light grey suit with a pale yellow cummerbund and daisy boutonniere.
For a flowerful ending to your daisy themed wedding ceremony, have someone shower you with tiny daisies.

For something different and fun, why not reserve a time before or after the ceremony for the bride and groom to play the "loves me?loves me not" game while pulling off daisy petals? Have someone count the petals carefully beforehand to make sure this comes out right!

A daisy themed wedding is fun, easy, and inexpensive to carry out. Best of all, you'll remember it always as the sweet, fresh beginning to your new life together. And one more idea: Press some small daisies (before the wedding - they'll take about a month to dry) and glue them on blank cards to make "thank you" notes to send out later.
