Decorations for a Western Theme Wedding

If you have decided on a Western wedding, kick up your heels! Using Western wedding decorations you can create an ambience that reflects the spirit of the Old West and its infinite cowboy charm. One great thing about Western weddings is that they let you celebrate in a comfortable, laid-back style. Cover your reception tables with gingham tablecloths, and consider using picnic tables instead of banquet tables! They will seem more authentic, and they’re easy to obtain.

Mason jars filled with wildflowers make perfect centerpieces. Or tie sunflowers and daisies loosely with cotton twine or rawhide for a dramatic Western display. If you want a Texas favorite, choose spider lilies. These exotic looking blooms grow all over Texas and are great for centerpieces, bouquets, or special touches.

Paper flowers make artistic and fun contributions to a party room. These colorful blooms are popular at Western festivals and add unique appeal. Or simply decorate with pretty parasols. Large, inflatable cactus plants will add a bit of whimsy. Specialty suppliers can provide door hangings in the form of Old West curtains, Western murals, colored electric cactus lights, and even Western boot piñatas!

Tie bandanas to chair backs, or around potted flowers. Wagon wheels bring their own western flair and can be draped with garlands or lace. Use bales of hay to decorate your reception area, whether it’s a hall or an authentic barn! Hay will look great in your photos and will provide a comfy seat for your guests.

When we think of the Old West, images of horses, hayrides, and denim come to mind. Imagine arriving at your ceremony or reception in a horse-drawn carriage. The visual would be stunning for your guests, and you would incorporate a Western adventure into your celebration. Perhaps your bridal party could arrive on a hayride!

Let dinner ring with authenticity as a large dinner bell tells family and friends that grub is on the way! Will you grill in true Western style? Nothing is more relaxed than a good-old-fashioned barbecue.

Transform your guests into living decorations! Place cowboy hats around the reception area so guests can join in the fun! Lay short gloves and costume-jewelry chokers on the tables for female guests to wear. Before you know it, you will have a group of cowboys and cowgirls looking for the next line dance.

Will you dress in Western apparel? The groom would look dapper in a black tux and black cowboy hat. Or he could wear a dark silk vest with black jeans for a more casual feel. A bride would be informal yet striking in a denim-and-lace dress, or elegant in a long velvet gown with Victorian-style button-up boots. Dressing Western will add a sense of authenticity and will make you, yourselves, part of the decorative flair.

Lighting supplied by oil lamps and lanterns will help transport you to the days of the Old West. As you celebrate among cowboy hats, bales of hay, sweet-smelling flowers, and fiddles, you will become part of a fantasy that will live forever.
