Daisy Wedding Program

Decorate your wedding program with these daisy ideas.

One of the most popular wedding design icons in recent years is the daisy. The daisy is a classic symbol of innocence, due to its white color, humble design, and associations that extend beyond the memory of folklore. The mythology of the daisy is right at home with that of the traditional wedding ceremony, which uses white to highlight the innocence of the bride in her feelings for the groom and the natural romance of obeying those feelings.

While the daisy's heritage may or may not be present in the minds of modern wedding planners, it is likely to influence our feelings about the daisy and wedding themes. Today's brides may choose daisies out of a desire to be sweet and feminine without being grandiose or frilly. Or if the wedding venue is particularly fine, the daisy might be the perfect image to keep the spirit of things in balance. Even if you have a more complex design theme, you may find that a daisy wedding program is perfect for you.

The program is one design element from your wedding that is likely to survive long and in many copies as a keepsake. It is a prime place to use an image or graphic that communicates the spirit you are trying to convey in your wedding design. There are myriad ways of incorporating the daisy into your program design if you so choose. You'll find that the flower can also be very versatile in combining with other images to create the desired mood. From hand sketches to composed photographs, from the minimal to the ornate, the daisy is a compliment that can fit into any design concept.

Are you after a handmade, craft-like look? Dried, pressed daisies can look surprisingly classy glued right onto a wedding-program cover or the corners of text pages. Use an off-white, handmade paper and make your program booklet-style. Lace the holes with twine, raffia, or a durable dried grass. Want to really show off the sophistication of your handiwork? What about paper doilies with a daisy design? Buy or cut out doilies in snowflake fashion and paint tiny daisies around the borders to imitate embroidery. Glue the doilies to the program covers. Then use paper or real lace on the borders of your pages.

If you are whimsical, you may want to offer an individual live daisy with your programs. Simply slip the stem through the inside binding of a booklet-style program. Your guests will open to a special surprise. Remember that old petal-picking game, "He loves me, He loves me not"? Why not invoke a variation of this to reference the daisy's power to invoke true feelings? Print "He loves me, She loves me" on a ribbon to tie around each live daisy. Or use it as a border on your pages with a tiny daisy icon, or as a frame around a daisy drawing on your cover. A pair of daisies, like a pair of lovers, with one petal dropping from each, would be a cute design for your daisy wedding program.

If you want to keep things minimal and elegant, you can always use a subtle daisy-silhouette design. A bunch or field of daisies, either in monotone print or muted color, would be easy to create yourself using a good photo program and a home computer.

The Internet abounds with daisy images and ideas, and they can be downloaded from websites such as Weddingclipart.com. Feel free to adjust the colors, to make the flower centers white or the bouquets purple if you wish. Compose your own daisy themed wedding designs, combining bouquets, rings, lace, bride images, etc. The field is wide open. Wrap a handful of daisies in a string of pearls, or place a daisy wreath on an image of the bride.

If you want to design your own daisy wedding program, the possibilities are endless. All you need is a clear sense of what you love most about the daisy, and wedding inspired imagination will bring your vision to life in the form of a unique daisy themed wedding program.
