No matter what time of year you decide to celebrate your wedding, you are sure to have a gorgeous ceremony, reception, and romantic honeymoon in Colorado. No matter where your tastes lie, each season offers a variety of activities sure to entertain you and your guests during your Colorado destination wedding vacation. Spring A Colorado location wedding is a seasonal delight. Springtime is the most popular time of year across the country for marriage ceremonies. Fresh lilies, peonies, green grass, and cerulean skies create gorgeous scenery for Colorado's couples. Heavy with the scent of spring, the setting will be so intoxicating that champagne toasts will be unnecessary at your wedding. In Colorado in the spring enjoy wildflower shows as you drive the Million Dollar Highway; called the Most Beautiful Drive in America, from Durango through Silverton to Ouray. Visit ghost towns and discover the Old West as you cross your own new frontier. Summer As summer arrives, the snow has finally melted off the mountain peaks creating beautiful waterfalls and perfectly clear streams that melt into fields of wildflowers. Your biggest problem may be choosing which waterfall to be married beside or use for the backdrop to your pictures. Your guests will be able to enjoy horseback riding and late afternoon swims if you choose the summer months for your Colorado destination wedding. Consider camping for your honeymoon. Adventurous hikes through gorgeous wilderness meadows and whitewater rafting is a great way to spend the day. Kayaking or canoeing down the river is also an option. At night, roast marshmallows and plan your future over the campfire as lightning bugs hover nearby. Fall Between the middle of September and the second week of October, if you don't blink you will see a gorgeous, colorful flash of perfect weather in Colorado. The sun is high in the sky and a breeze blows through burnt orange and gold leaves. Have your wedding in the mountains to take full advantage of the scene. Consider taking a chairlift to the top of a mountain, enjoying the colors of autumn along the way. When you get to the top, have a picnic then bike or hike back down at your leisure. Go fly-fishing in one of the famous gold metal rivers or spend the day on a fishing boat in one of the mountain lakes. Winter In the winter, imagine a candlelit ceremony in a small log church in a valley with a view of snow covered peaks. Think of bringing your guests to a lodge in Telluride or Vail. Your closest friends and family watching as you walk up the aisle to meet your sweetheart and join your lives together. A sleigh waits outside in the snow to whisk you down a path lit by twinkle lights to your reception. A crackling fire blazes in the fireplace and food and wine await you. Later, enjoy relaxing in the natural hot springs. If this sounds good to you, with a little bit of planning, this and more can be your Colorado destination wedding.
