Destination Wedding in the Dominican Republic

The Latin country of the Dominican Republic is a land filled with palm-lined beaches and rugged mountains. With hot Caribbean temperatures and activities to fill the days and nights, a Dominican Republic destination wedding wraps its visitors in the unique splendor of its tropical land.

There are four basic areas for couples to choose from when determining the ideal spot for their Dominican Republic destination wedding. From serene beaches to luxurious ballrooms, choices are abundant and diverse.

Playa Dorada

Playa Dorada, located on the North Coast, is known for its lovely resorts and special touches. With over a dozen resorts, this gated community offers diversity and action packed adventure for weddings and honeymoons. Each resort harbors its own set of activities, pools, restaurants, bars and clubs. With over 2 km of white sandy beaches, the views and experiences are breathtaking. Shop at the mall, or absorb the cool air in the dark movie theater! Marry on a golf course or ride strong and striking horses along the beach.

The Dominican Coast

The tranquil southeast coast beaches offer a peaceful stretch of paradise dotted with coconut pines and exotic fish. A wedding along the shore would provide a couple and their guests with breathtaking memories and awe-inspiring views. Don't be too surprised if a few whales crash the party!

Punta Cana

Punta Cana is one of the most popular spots for vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Residing on the eastern most tip of the island, it overflows with the rhythm and mystery of its dense jungles, tropical foliage and flowers, palm-lined beaches and the ever-present music of exotic birds. Guests feel as though they have been transported to a mystical world of intrigue and beauty.

Santa Domingo

The capital city of Santa Domingo bustles with history and artistic delight. Founded by none other than the brother of Christopher Columbus, Santa Domingo explodes with culture and historical sites. Visit museums, learn about the architecture of this Latin paradise, or simply dine in the fine restaurants and visit the nightclubs.

With activities to suit the needs of all, the Dominican Republic is a relatively inexpensive spot for a Caribbean vacation. Filled with unique Caribbean charm, island guests can participate in swimming, surfing, diving, deep-sea fishing, hiking, whale watching, horseback riding, cycling, or simply luxuriating beneath a hot sun.

Nightlife is filled with the pulsing tones of Latin music and slot machines, of the guests and the natives dancing the night away with merengues and enthusiasm, of romantic moonlit walks.

Legal documents will need to be translated into Spanish, and one can receive all the necessary information through the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic. Generally, obtaining a marriage license is uncomplicated and inexpensive.

Hurricane season traditionally runs from June 1st through November 3rd, but August and September are known to experience the most hurricanes. It's important to keep this in mind while planning vacations to the Caribbean.

With hot days averaging a high of 87 degrees and a low of 73 degrees Fahrenheit, warm clear waters and diverse activities, a Dominican Republic destination wedding feels like a fantasy. As you stand beneath arches hand braided from palm fronds, you will stand within the foliage and promise of all nature has to offer.
