Wedding CDs are becoming a popular take-home favor at weddings. Sometimes, the CD is a copy of the music heard throughout the wedding ceremony and reception. Other times, it is simply a collection of the bride and groom's favorite songs to pass along to their guests.

Either way, a personalized wedding CD is one more detail that many couples are adding to their weddings nowadays.

If you have the right equipment, you can make your CD wedding favor at home. Or, you can take it to the professionals. Another option is to burn the CDs at home, and leave the labeling to the professionals.

To make the CDs at home, you'll need a CD burner, and a subscription to an online music provider or a collection of CDs with all your designated songs. If you don't have this equipment, there are wedding retailers that provide ready-made wedding CDs with many classic wedding songs. If you choose one of these, you just need to add personalized wedding CD labels.

If you're making your own CDs, you'll need to buy jewel cases for each one. Choose cases in colors that compliment your wedding hues. Labels can be ordered online in bulk, either preprinted with your names and chosen clip art, or blank for you to print them yourselves. If you have used wedding clip art for your invitations, place cards or menus, consider carrying these images over to your wedding CD label.

When choosing the actual music to play, try to incorporate favorite songs of the couple, as opposed to favorite songs of the individual. This is a time when you want to focus on romantic, nostalgic music, not songs that remind you of an inside joke with a friend. Keep the wedding theme in mind, and try to incorporate a few classics. Consider the tempo of the music you choose. Alternate a few slower songs with a fast song, but don't go too far in either direction. Remember that this is a CD your guests will generally put on as background music, and they shouldn't be jolted from one song to the next. Wedding music is generally soft, romantic and nostalgic.

Generally 8-10 songs is the maximum you should put on a wedding CD. This isn't an all-time greatest hits album, it's a small taste of your wedding. The less songs you incorporate, the simpler your CD will look if you choose to label each song. Have fun putting together your wedding CD, and the music will reflect your love for one another, and be a fun take-home gift for guests.
