Vermont Wedding Tuxedos

Choosing the right tuxedo for your Vermont wedding is easier than you think. We'll show you how.

Your wedding in scenic Vermont is your chance to be king for a day, so be sure you dress to suit the occasion. This all-important event is one day you're expected to turn on the shine. Believe it or not, male grooming experts agree that the fit of the suit is more important than any other factor, including style and price. Always keep your shape and the shape of the suit in mind when shopping for your tuxedo.

Finding a Shop

Vermont is fast becoming one of the country's most sought-out wedding destination spots; as such, your Vermont wedding shop will almost certainly be up on the latest tuxedo trends. The shop staff should make you comfortable, offer suggestions and be flexible on what type of formal wear you have in mind. Look for a locale that has a great reputation, a large selection and is comfortable with any size and type of wedding.

If you're having trouble locating a Vermont shop (or simply don't know where to start), look online for addresses. Resources such as My Wedding offer lists of formal wear shops and are searchable by zip code or general area, making your search even easier. You can also ask your bride-to-be whether her bridal boutique has suggestions. Many of today's trendiest shops offer both bridal dresses and wedding tuxedos; go together and make a day of it. (Hint: You'll also score points for being the Renaissance man you are!)

If all else fails, ask formerly-married buddies who tied the knot in Vermont what they recommend. Your male friends will be able to tell you from their own perspective which shops offered the best prices and service.

Tuxedo Style 101

The unofficial fashion rules of tuxedo wear are largely common sense and have remained the same for generations. While many grooms-to-be feel intimidated when first entering a formal wear shop, they are pleasantly surprised by how easy choosing the right tuxedo can be. Your Vermont formal wear salesperson almost certainly realizes that the experience can be daunting and will put you immediately at ease. (If the salesperson doesn't, find another shop. Remember, you're the customer; your comfort is paramount.)

There are a few basic variations of a groom's wedding suit/tuxedo. Generally, today's preferred tuxedo fabrics are black or gray (all shades) and can include subtle pinstripes. Classic tuxedos are double-breasted, with fairly broad shoulders. If you're afraid this look will overwhelm you, you can opt instead for a single-breasted suit or one with as few as two buttons, a very trendy look for today's groom.

Look for long lines that will blend well. Vests have a trimming effect, while cummerbunds break up the line of a very tall body and are a classic and formal look (just remember, you can only wear one of these; never wear both together!). The suit should follow and flatter the shape of your body. Be careful of very long tails; these are best on exceptionally tall men and can simply look like "too much" on those of an average to shorter height. Long tails are also more appropriate for evening weddings, while a shorter look can be worn for an early evening or afternoon occasion provided it is more formal.

No matter what style of coat you choose, your trousers should fit at your natural waist. Your tailor can see to it that the fabric flatters and the fit is ideal. Relax and enjoy the experience; it's once in a lifetime.
