Tennessee Wedding Accommodations

Guests will appreciate a place to get some shut-eye after your big Tennessee wedding day.

Tennesseans are all about Southern hospitality and that's why making sure guests have suitable accommodations tops their big day to-do list.

Well, Tennessee is no stranger to making guests feel comfortable, leaving you with plenty of accommodation choices. That, of course, can make things a bit confusing, and that's why you'll need a bit of help. Take a break and kick your feet up -- you'll have an ample amount of things to do soon, so this one is on us.

Weed Out Your Choices

It's tough to be the person who is recommending where other people should rest their heads, but in lieu of slipping between the sheets of all of the beds across Tennessee there are a few questions you can ask yourself to help limit your options:

1. What hotels, bed and breakfasts, and other accommodations are located around your venue? You want to give guests options that do not require too much traveling.

2. How many people will you be accommodating? Do the spaces you are looking at meet your requirements?

3. Do you plan on recommending more than one hotel for guests to choose from? If so, be sure you will be able to let guests know what each has to offer.

Once you have chosen a few places, it's time to do a bit of detective work and scope out your choices. Call the locations and ask about pricing, including discount rates for large parties of guests who may be staying for several nights. Most hotels, inns and B&Bs will accommodate such a request given the considerable amount of business that a wedding can generate. You may even want to consider visiting a few places just to get an idea of what they have to offer.

After you have limited it down to a couple choices, include the accommodations information with your invitations or post it to your wedding web site.

See? All that work and you barely had to lift a finger -- or your head from that comfy pillow!

Snap Out of It!

No, it's not time to nod off just yet. When you are choosing a place for guests to say, you will want to also include a bit of your unique personality if possible. Are you a Fancy Nancy? Then consider a regal hotel, like The Sheraton Read House in Chattanooga. A cute and cozy Cindy will appreciate the Berry Springs Lodge Bed & Breakfast in Sevierville and a Posh Patricia will die for the Union Station Hotel in downtown Nashville.

OK, so maybe the names are completely corny (they are), but the point is that Tennessee may be home to thousands of accommodation options, but only a select few will suit your special style.

It's Almost Time to Rest Your Peepers

So, you have chosen accommodations for your guests, and it's almost time for you to take a nap, but there are a few more finishing touches to consider. For example, some couples leave special baskets in their guests' rooms -- especially the guests that are an immediate part of the big day. Pack a basket with local favors, like maps and tasty candies. Don't have the budget for such gifts? Leave a card in your guests' rooms -- they will love to arrive to a heartfelt note from the two of you.

OK, You Can Start Snoring Now

But be sure before you do you consider where you will be spending your first night as husband and wife. When reserving spaces and places for guests, you will want to also talk to hotel or inn managers about an exceptional room for the two of you.

And, hey, keep the snoring to a minimum -- at least until the honeymoon is over!
