Autumn Colors Represent the PA Wedding Season
As anyone who's lived there can tell you, autumn is a spectacular time for a PA wedding. Maples and oak trees turn the hills and valleys into vibrant tapestries of reds, oranges and golds which will wow your out-of-state friends and relatives. September and early October are some of the most popular times for marriages, and many brides opt to add seasonal floral or leaf flourishes to their invitations, programs, and save the date cards. The months of April, May and June are also a beautiful time to marry, with bubbling brooks, waterfalls, and pastoral settings coming alive after a long winter. Wildflowers can be found growing alongside the many lakes and rivers of the state, including the state flower, the white mountain laurel. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Weddings
Pennsylvania's two primary cities are wonderful wedding destinations, and may help to spark your romantic imagination while planning. The Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania has long been a destination for honeymooning couples. With fragrant pine forests, placid lakes, plenty of hiking, in-season skiing, dance halls, golf courses and more, you won't be at a loss for activities. One of the states little-known romantic gems is Rickett's Glen State Park, a wonderful spot with a crystal clear mountain lake, camping, cabins, and breathtaking waterfalls along a moderate trail. Or, if you'd rather a relaxed honeymoon retreat, there are many lodges and romantic bed and breakfasts.
Pennsylvania Marriage Licenses
In PA, couples need to apply for and sign their marriage license together, in the courthouse of the county where they will be married. All Pennsylvania county courthouses are open Monday through Friday. The license is valid for 60 days and requires a 3-day waiting period to obtain it. There are no health requirements or blood tests required, but both individuals must show photo identification. Some Pennsylvania counties do ask for information about parents' residency and place of birth. If previously married, a divorce decree or death certificate may be required to obtain a license.
