New York Wedding Tuxedos

New York grooms are heading down the aisle in style!

Head down the aisle in style in a tuxedo from a reputable New York retailer. The New York Wedding Tuxedo Guide will show you how.

New York City Wedding Tuxedos

Offering both rentals and tuxedos for sale, Baldwin Formals can assist you with all manner of formal wear, including designer labels like Ralph Lauren and Givenchy. Service is friendly, and they are conveniently located in midtown Manhattan.

If your groom prefers his martinis shaken to stirred, send him over to Brioni, the designer who has outfitted James Bond in his many film appearances. 007s-in-training will enjoy the Italian cuts and clean silhouettes which make this line famous. Expect to wait at least six weeks for a suit. Prices are expensive.

A groom who has his heart set on owning his own designer tux should try a visit to NYC's discount shopping mecca, Century 21 Department Store, in lower Manhattan. With prices often up to 75% off retail, you could possibly score a suit by designers like Calvin Klein or Hugo Boss, if you don't mind fighting the inevitable crowds.

Ideal for the man who wants to channel his inner rock star, the Village's Duncan Quinn offers classic menswear with a modern edge. Suits are available in both ready-to-wear and custom-made.

New York State and Upstate New York Wedding Tuxedos

With locations in Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo, S & K Menswear offers a large selection of formal wear from contemporary to classic. Prices are reasonable, with incentives for customers renting suits for the entire wedding party.

Tuxedo Junction bills themselves as the "Wedding Rental Experts," and features multiple New York locations like Niagara Falls, West Seneca and Amherst. With fair prices and a vast selection, Tuxedo Junction is a good idea for the groom who hates to shop, or is overwhelmed by the tux shopping process.

Choppa & Son Formalwear of Albany promises individualized service and a wide range of tuxedos in stock. The benefit of not having to select your suit from a catalog is being able to try it on in person and see how it looks on you before you commit. Designers include Joseph Abboud and Oscar de la Renta.

The Three Styles of Tuxedos

Black Tie: The most common of the three styles, black tie is often worn at weddings, particularly in the evening. "Black Tie" will often be indicated on invitations, and means any tuxedo of choice. The color of accessories is optional.

White Tie: The most formal set of attire, seen at balls and very formal weddings. Invitations will explicitly state that the event is "White Tie," which also indicates that ladies should wear floor length gowns. Accessories are traditionally of the same white fabric.

Daytime: Traditional formal wear worn before 6pm, the suit will usually include striped trousers and a gray vest. Wing tip shoes are not worn with daytime formal wear.
