Maine Wedding Planners

The right Maine wedding planner will have all the resources for a picture-perfect wedding.

Congratulations on choosing beautiful Maine for your wedding destination! Lost on how to begin planning? Don't be. Enlist in the help of a wedding planner, and you'll find the information you need, from the food to the locale to your bouquet.

Chances are you already know at least one couple who has used a wedding planning service. With more and more destination weddings happening among today's couples, as well as a broader range of choices that are as likely to confuse as to please, professional wedding planning is on the rise. And it may be a more economical option than you think. Read on for help in finding the right planner for your Maine wedding.

Should You Hire a Wedding Planner?

Sit down with a pad and pen (or at your laptop) and decide what you'll need for your wedding. Don't leave anything out; if you plan to release two doves during the recessional, add that in as a needed service. Now put a check next to each item that you realistically feel you can find or handle yourself. If you personally know a DJ and your father is your pastor or rabbi, you obviously have a leg up on the next marrying couple. However, if most of your wedding purchases and services will be from companies you've never dealt with or are in a location you're unfamiliar with, a wedding planner may be in order.

If Maine is a destination wedding location, and especially if guests will be traveling -- it is in your best interests to hire someone "in the know" to help with your plans. That great deal you think you're getting may be with a fly-by-night company, or a delicious-looking buffet could be easier on the eyes than the stomach. Such information isn't always easy for someone unfamiliar with the area to determine, but a professional will be able to steer you away from trouble and toward great selections.

Where to Start Looking

If you know someone who used the services of a wedding coordinator in Maine, ask for his or her true impressions of the planner. If the review seems overwhelmingly positive, give the planner a call and set up a date to interview him or her. Part of a wedding planner's duties is to make you and your groom feel comfortable. Make sure you appreciate the prospective coordinator's views, wedding vision and open-mindedness to your ideas before signing a contract. You can also look online for lists of coordinators.

Making a Final Decision

Don't immediately hire your first pick; always visit at least three wedding planners at their places of business before making a binding decision of any kind. Ask for five references and be sure to call each. The references should all have been within the past year, if possible. Ask each reference to be completely honest with you and ask questions such as: "How easy was s/he to work with? Was the final cost close to the initial estimate? If you could have changed one thing about your planner's services, what would it be?" Take your time to make a final decision; it's an important one. With a little research and planning of your own, you can find the perfect coordinator for your own very special Maine wedding.
