Florida Wedding Photographers

Find the best wedding photographers for a steal in Florida.

Budget-conscious brides tend to look at certain items on their wedding budget with a degree of trepidation. The so-called "big ticket" items (those that entail the largest lump payments) typically include the reception area, the band, and the photographer. Don't worry! There are plenty of quality photographers in the Sunshine State who won't take you for a ride. Here are a few questions we routinely encounter on making the most of what fabulous Florida has to offer in the way of quality photography.

Where Should I Start?

Where you live in Florida may help you decide what photographer to pick. On the other hand, many professional photographers are willing to travel. Don't feel limited to a photographer in your town or even your county; if you find a company that suits your style, ask whether he or she is able to travel to your wedding and if there's a travel charge.

If you don't live in the state of Florida but will be getting married there, see whether any acquaintances have tied the knot in the Sunshine State. If so, ask about the photographer the couple chose. Most newlyweds are happy to discuss the details that made their special day come together.

Surfing For Photographers

Naturally, the Internet is another resource in locating great Florida wedding photographers. Since you'll be finding these with the click of a mouse rather than a word-of-mouth referral, be thorough in your search. Look over each website carefully to see how professional it appears. Then call the company and start asking questions. A reputable photography studio will have answers ready for you and will be upfront about such things as lead times and cost estimates. Be sure to ask for references, too. A good studio with an active business should be able to furnish you with 5-10 references within the past year.

Try photography sites such as Paul R. Farmer in Tampa, Sky Photo Group (various locations), Brides on a Budget Photo and Video or search result sites like The Wedding Photojournalist Association.

How Much Can I Expect a Quality Photographer to Charge?

That depends. One rule of thumb is to find the seven best options, then eliminating the one most expensive and one least expensive listing. Very high prices may be unwarranted, while a very low cost could mean lower quality or a very new company (though it doesn't always). Left with five options, you'll be in a better position to peruse each one and, if possible, visit the studio.

Most Florida wedding photographers will charge somewhere between $500 and $1200 for a photography package (videography included in the package tends to raise the total cost toward the higher end of the scale). Have your photography budget in hand and stick to it. If you fall in love with a Florida studio that is just a hair out of your range, ask what options you may have to bring the price lower. Many professional photographers have specials or packages to cut corners on cost without sacrificing quality.

Finding a Florida wedding photographer doesn't have to be a chore. Follow these simple rules and you're closer than ever to the wedding pictures of your dreams.
