Many colors are appropriate for a spring wedding theme, from pastels to neutrals to bright colors. The only colors you might want to avoid are dark hues such as burgundy, deep purple and emerald greens. These are more appropriate for a winter wedding.
There are several ways to go about choosing your spring wedding colors. One approach is to choose one main color and to use different shades of that color. You might choose blue and have your bridesmaids wear pale blue dresses; bright-blue delphinium would highlight the bouquets and a grayish-blue paper would be used for invitations and place cards.
Another idea that works well is to surround one bright color with neutrals. Perhaps you love the color coral. You might use that color sparingly, accenting it with whites, ivory and tan.
There are colors that seem to work together better than others.
For instance, green and white is a great combination. Whether you are having a casual or formal wedding, outside or indoors, this pattern always works. Invitations are simply white with a green border or with an image of foliage. Bouquets are created with all-white flowers such as roses, tulips, lilies of the valley, orchids and lilacs. Accent those bouquets with a variety of greenery including eucalyptus, asparagus fern and camilla. Carry this theme throughout your decorations for a simple, elegant look.
Another combination that is quite popular is lavender and silver. These cool tones compliment each other and can bring a youthful, dreamy feel to your wedding. Invitations may be printed on lavender paper with a silver wedding cake graphic. This color scheme works well with contemporary yet simple decorations. Lavender is a color that is worn well with many skin-tones, so it is a nice choice for bridesmaid dresses.
Pale pink, ivory and peach are another romantic combination. With this scheme, you can highlight flowers of the season, such as roses, tulips and peonies. You might want to highlight the rose as a main staple in a wedding with this color scheme. Programs might be printed on ivory paper with a simple rose pattern above and below the print. Top your wedding cake with a small bouquet of fresh flowers using the color scheme. Floating candles of these colors may be placed in crystal bowls filled with water on reception tables.
For a fabulously fresh look, pair white and yellow for a daisy-inspired wedding. Use your imagination to come up with daisy decorations: tablecloths, cake-toppers, wine-glass stem charms, and of course, daisy bouquets everywhere.
Choose your color pattern wisely and your spring wedding theme and spring wedding colors will be reflect the freshness, renewal and growth that bonds your relationship on your special day.
