Bed & Breakfast Honeymoons in Southwest and Northeast Michigan

clinking wine glasses
The soft sand of the dunes leads the two of you down to the sunlit shoreline, the gentle touch of water to land. The wavelets catch the last rays as the gentle wind caresses your lover's hair, sighing in the beach grass, as you look across the mighty lake that seems to go on forever.

As you uncork the bottle of chardonnay bought at a local winery, pouring a shimmering glass for each of you, toasting your new marriage, sealing it with a passionate kiss, you know exactly why you came to Michigan for your honeymoon!

What to Do in Michigan
Michigan is known as "The Great Lake State", and with good reason. Touching four of the five great lakes, home to over 11,000 inland lakes, you and your loved one will never be far from the shining surface of this or that body of water, each one beautiful, each one unique. The state has also become a haven for wine lovers in recent years, with numerous wine trails crisscrossing the countryside.

You might try the Leelanau Peninsula for the largest number of wineries, or the Southwest Michigan Trail for over 10,000 acres of grapes along "The Other West Coast". Additionally, Michigan is home to a bevy of amusement and water parks ("Michigan's Adventure" in Muskegon and "Crossroads" in Flint are popular favorites), quite a number of casinos, and an incredible diversity of historic sites, including battlegrounds, bridges, churches, forts, and historic homes.

Harbor Country
Harbor Country, along the southwest Michigan coastline, is one of the most picturesque regions in the entirety of the United States. It is home to charming small towns, a lush, verdant landscape, and Warren Dunes, whose gorgeous lakeside beaches consistently give it the premier ranking amongst Michigan's state parks. Bed and breakfasts, honeymoon hotels, and romantic inns dot the rolling hills that lead to the coast and the broad waters of Lake Michigan. With pumpkin farms, apple picking, and a wonderful array of vineyards, there's plenty of opportunity to appreciate the taste of the land's bounty on your romantic getaway.

If you want to get nice and cozy, visit in the winter months, when you'll see the boughs of the trees frosted with white ice and children sledding down snow-covered slopes. There's plenty of outdoor activity to go around, with cross country skiing and horse-drawn sleigh rides definite possibilities. If you'd rather spend some time indoors, you'll have plenty of time for leisurely browsing and shopping at the area's many antique shops and art galleries.

In recent years, Michigan has become a premier destination for discriminating honeymooners. With outstanding bed and breakfast accommodations, numerous historic sites, Harbor Country, and an incredible and diverse wine region, this state offers couples taking their first steps into married life a chance for unforgettable relaxation and romance.
