Honeymoons in the Fall

Near or far, plan a fall honeymoon to celebrate your new status as husband and wife.

Honeymoon In The Fall
Your dress is ordered, the caterer is reserved and The Mambo Kings are scheduled to play. Now comes the fun part. It's finally time to decide where to take your honeymoon.

Fall couples who want to take advantage of all the season has to offer can head off to New England or the Midwest. But don't forget Colorado. The quaking aspens, sun dappled mountains and stately fir trees are beautiful in the fall. The major ski resorts, such as Winter Park, operate year round. Ski lifts become mountain bike lifts for access to some of the most gorgeous scenery to be found. Jazz festivals, art fairs and other celebrations are offered to keep things hopping without the snow. If it's snow you want, most Colorado ski resorts aim to open by Thanksgiving weekend.

If a tropical paradise is more your style, check out Tahiti or Fiji. These tropical islands take a little more travel time, but they make up for it in luxury and beauty. Web sites such as Travel Wizard have dozens of island honeymoon packages to these and other islands. Some resorts are restricted for adults only and many offer all-inclusive options. This means all your meals, your drinks (with a few exceptions) and activities are included in the price. These types of honeymoon locations are great for couples on a budget. You can easily plan for a fantastic time without pinching pennies or worrying about your tab.

Cruises are not what they used to be. You can travel the inside passage of Alaska to view glaciers, tour the South America jungle or head to Europe. Ships range from intimate gatherings for adults to massive ocean liners with rock walls, golf courses, and 24 hour buffets. Sites like Fox World Travel offer couples live cruise cams, comparison options and port searches to give you all kinds of information before you book.

Honeymoons in the fall don't have to about exotic destinations and foreign languages. If your budget is a bit frayed from the ceremony or you only have a weekend to work with, think local. Order the tourism guide for your state. Netstate offers links to free tourism guide books, telephone numbers and information for every state. Order your guide, grab a cup of coffee and page through it. You will be amazed at the activities, history and attractions right in your own backyard. The guides are free, so grab the ones for your neighbor states as well. The Travel Channel has an excellent website for finding unusual honeymoon locations across the county.

Camping in the fall is amazing. The nights get chilly enough to snuggle by the fire, but the days are bright and sunny for hiking or biking. State and national parks clear out once the kids head back to school. You will find abundant campsites, unspoiled views and uncrowded trails greet fall nature lovers.

River rafting or castle hopping, your honeymoon is a chance to celebrate and adjust to the major milestone you achieved. Plan this trip together. Find ways to compromise if your dream trips are on opposite sides of the earth. This is only the first trip in a lifetime of adventures you two will share.
