Wedding Shower Thank You Card Wording

printable Creative Wedding Invitations
After your wedding shower, you'll want to set aside some time to work on your thank you notes. Thank you notes should be sent as soon as possible, ideally within two weeks of the event. However, a late note is always better than not sending one at all.

Hostess Thank You Notes

Your hostess should receive a special thank you note in recognition of the time and effort involved in planning your wedding shower. If your finances allow, sending a small gift as a token of your appreciation is also appropriate. For example, a potted plant, a box of gourmet chocolates, or a bottle of wine would be thoughtful ways to express your gratitude.

Here's a sample of the appropriate wording for your hostess thank you:

Dear Emily,

Thank you for the beautiful wedding shower you planned, organized, and hosted. The brunch you prepared was delicious and the floral centerpieces were absolutely breathtaking.

I’m so blessed to have someone like you as my friend.

Thank you,

Aimee

Standard Wedding Shower Thank You Notes

Most of the guests who attend your wedding shower are likely to have purchased items from your registry or things you'll need to build a home together with your new spouse. You should thank you guest for attending the celebration as well as thanking them for the gift itself.

Use this sample thank you note as a starting point for your message:

Dear Rachelle,

Thank you so much for attending my bridal shower. It meant a lot to me to have you there!

I am very grateful for the casserole dishes and cookbook. Although I'm far from a five-star chef, I'm excited to learn how to make delicious meals for Ben and I to enjoy in our new home. Your generosity is much appreciated.

All the best,

Anne

Thank You Note for a Cash Gift

Many people feel awkward writing thank you notes for a cash gift, but there's no reason to be embarrassed. You don't need to reference the specific dollar amount, but it's a good idea to briefly describe how you plan to use the gift.

Here's an example of a short thank you note for a cash gift:

Dear Margaret,

Thank you so much for attending my bridal shower. It was wonderful to have a chance to catch up with you and to see photos of your daughters.

James and I cannot thank you enough for your generous cash gift. We are extremely grateful that you've brought us one step closer to our dream of purchasing our first home.

We are blessed to have you in our lives.

Love always,
Elizabeth

Thank You Note for a Group Gift

In many cases, a group of friends or family will come together to chip in for one of the larger items from a couple's registry. When you receive a group gift, you should generally write individual thank you notes for everyone who contributed.

Dear Tiffany,

Thank you for contributing to the office pool to buy me a new set of pots and pans for my bridal shower. Mark and I both love to cook, so we will be using this generous gift for many years to come.

I’m so blessed to have such a thoughtful coworker.

Warm regards,
Hannah

However, it's OK to write a single thank you note if the gift is from 10 or more people and the note can be sent to a central location where everyone will see it. For example, if all of your coworkers chipped in for a bridal shower gift, you could post a thank you note in the office break room where everyone would be easily able to read it.

To my wonderful coworkers,

Thank you to those who contributed to the office pool to buy me a new set of pots and pans for my bridal shower. Mark and I both love to cook, so we will be using this generous gift for many years to come.

I'm so blessed to be able to work with such a wonderful group of people.

Warm regards,

Hannah

Thank You Note for a Guest Who Did Not Attend Your Shower

Thank you notes are particularly important for guests who did not attend your shower, as they often have no other way of knowing that the gift was received.

Use this example as a starting point for your note:

Dear Janice,

Although I was sorry to hear you couldn't make it to the shower, I know your trip to Hawaii was a once in a lifetime experience. I can't wait to see pictures the next time we get together!

I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for the gift you sent in the mail. The vase you picked out is perfect for our dining room table! In fact, I already have it filled with flowers from my garden.

Thank you again for your generosity. Chris and I hope to see you at the wedding!

Blessings,
Erin
