Beach Wedding Invitation
Make your own the Beach Wedding Invitation
Beach Invitation Concept
First I paint a mental picture. When I think of the beach I think of seashells, waves, sandcastles, sand, boats, sunsets, the sun, palm trees, and fish. The color blue comes to mind for the ocean; white and tan for the sand; yellow for the sun; and gray for the rocks and shells.

The Invitation
I used the shell image from Wedding Clipart at the top of the invitation, making it a clear center of attention, but not the focal point. It holds its place on the invitation but doesn't overpower it; it goes along with the text. I also searched for a phrase that would go along with the beach theme, and decided to use the following: "As unique as a seashell, as deep as the sea, as eternal as the waves, our love is meant to be". I placed this phrase underneath the shell image, with the wedding text underneath it. Below the text is a simple wave image than adds a subtle ending touch to the invitation.

Personalize and Print the Beach Wedding Invitation

Paper Suggestions
• 8.5" x 11"
• 30 to 60 pound card stock
• Bright white, tan, transparent, or blue paper
NOTE: Be sure to check with your paper supplier that your paper is inkjet-compatible (or laser-compatible if that's what you're using)

Final Invitation Dimensions
5" x 6.75"

Ribbons and ties
Try using a nice blue ribbon or a brown tie material. No special bows or ties are needed. Cutting the ends of the ribbon on the diagonal or in a triangle shape adds a nice touch.

Colors Suggestions: The colors that will work great with this design are blue, gray, white, and deep brown. These are all colors that can be found at the ocean, so using them in your invitation will enhance the beach theme.

Font used: Papyrus

Now that you've decided on this layout, its time to personalize it!
Here's what you need to do:
  1. Download the Beach Wedding Invitation Template
Members of Wedding Clipart will find the template pictured in this set once they login. All templates are divided by theme, and it will be easy to locate the butterfly theme and this exact template using the thumbnail image. Once you find it, simply download it to your hard drive.

  2. Open the Template
All Wedding Clipart templates are in Microsoft Word format. Double click the template and it will open automatically in MS Word.

  3. Personalize the Text
You'll see that all the text is in its own textbox, so you can edit the text and move it to where you want very easily. Try typing additional words and phrases and you'll get the hang of it immediately. You can also change the font, add bold or italicized text if you wish.

  4. OPTIONAL GRAPHICS EDITING
Swap out or edit graphics used in the template. We've designed the template layout and graphics so that they are ready to print as-is. But perhaps you've found additional images in the Wedding Clipart collection that you'd like to include. Inside the website, along with all the templates, is a complete tutorial on adding and removing images to a document in Microsoft Word. Use this as your guide. Finally, if you are familiar with image-editing programs such as Illustrator or Corel, you have complete flexibility to modify any aspect of any image, from its color to its basic lines.

  5. Test Print
Once you are happy with the way the invitation reads, try a test print on plain paper using the Manual Feed setting on your printer. We've tested all of our templates on inkjet and laser printers, so you shouldn't have any trouble printing with your standard home printer.

  6. Test Cut
As you can see from the photo, this Butterfly Wedding Theme invitation is smaller than the 8.5" x 11" paper. You will need to practice cutting away the margins and folding the invitation in thirds so that it fits in your envelopes. Best to do this before you start your final prints on expensive paper.

  7. Final Fixes and Changes
You can make as many test prints as you want, allowing you to test different wording, changes to the layout, and additions/subtractions of graphics, as mentioned above.

  8. Final Print
Select the paper you have chosen for your final invitations. Before you start a large print run, test just one sheet. If the new paper causes any alignment or paper jamming issues, you'll need to troubleshoot the printer. Most printers allow adjustments to the manual paper feed tray. When you have a successful print out, you may still need to feed and print the invitations one at a time, depending on your printer.

  9. Final Cut
Once you have a stack of final prints, you can always do the cutting at home, especially if you have a paper cutter. But you'll probably save a lot of energy and mistakes by taking the stack to your local copy store and having them cut the entire stack at once. Be sure to have a prototype of a final cut with you for them to follow.
Your Invitations are Done!
Here is a little background on the other pieces you see in this Beach Wedding Stationary Set.

As you can see, I decided to go with a shell theme and deep blue color for my beach wedding set. I stuck to one main shell image and used it in different variations on all of the separate pieces of the set. When you look at the set, no one piece looks the same, yet they all go together. This is because I kept the same font and color throughout the set. When picking the paper, I chose to use a white rough paper to represent sand and its roughness.

The Save the Date
I used the shell image as the background and then simply put the text over it. I didn't put too much text on the shell though so that I wouldn't clutter the piece. In order for me to make the font so that it was clear and easy to read, I reduced some of the shell's transparency (you can do this in illustrator).

The RSVP
This RSVP is very simple. I used the same rounded corners as I did for everything else, but brought in another image besides the shell. I did this so that the main image wouldn't become overused.

The Program
I printed the cover of the program on transparent paper to add a little variety to the set and also added two blue cardstock pages in between. For the cover of the program, I enlarged the shell so that it was the focal point and put the wedding phrase underneath it (the same one I used on the invitation). On the inside of the program I used the white paper and same font style and also tied the wave image and starfish image into the program. I finished out the program by using tan colored ties to bind the program together. This was a very easy procedure too; all I did was take a safety pin and make six holes in the paper (three sets of two holes) and tied the thread.

This is a great wedding set for any beach wedding. It looks great, has good thematic value, and is easy to create. I designed everything within a couple of hours from scratch and printed it from a 4-year-old HP OfficeJet G85 inkjet printer.
